VanBrowser for Android: Delete synced data

Vertolini, LLC provides this self-service guide for removing VanBrowser's Google Drive sync data and disconnecting the Google account. Local browsing does not require sync. Deletion access does not require a VanBrowser Pro subscription.

Delete through VanBrowser

  1. Stop VanBrowser sync on your other devices first. An already-sent request cannot be recalled, and a device that reconnects later can upload its local data again.
  2. Open Settings in VanBrowser for Android and choose Google Drive Sync.
  3. If necessary, choose Connect Google Drive to delete synced data and authorize the Google account whose VanBrowser cloud data you want to remove. Connecting for deletion does not turn on sync.
  4. Choose Delete synced data (or Retry deleting synced data for an unfinished deletion). Check the displayed account, acknowledge that you have stopped sync on your other devices, and press Delete cloud data.
  5. Wait for the completion message. VanBrowser checks the account identity, deletes files in its private Drive application data space, checks that no app data remains, and requests revocation of the app's Google access. A timeout, account mismatch, access failure or unconfirmed revocation is shown as an unfinished operation. Sync remains off. Reconnect the same account and retry if instructed.

This removes VanBrowser's cloud snapshots, including normal synced browsing records, tabs, cookies, workspace manifests and chunks from all installations using that account. It is not limited to files created by the current device. It does not access or delete your ordinary Google Drive documents.

Your local browser data, downloaded files and saved credentials are kept. Local copies on other devices are also separate. Delete those using each device's browser or Android app-storage controls only if you separately want to remove them. Stopping a deletion attempt cannot restore cloud files already removed.

If you cannot open VanBrowser

Sign in to the same Google account in Google Drive. In Drive's settings, use its application-management controls to find VanBrowser and delete its hidden application data. This app data is not shown as ordinary files in My Drive. You can also remove VanBrowser's access through your Google account's third-party connections. Removing access alone does not delete the existing Drive data. See Google's explanation of application data.

Turn off sync on other installations before deleting. Revocation requires a new Google consent before future authorized access, but it cannot undo an operation that another installation already sent. Reconnecting a device and enabling sync can upload its retained local records again.

Other information

This does not delete your Google account, cancel a Google Play subscription, or remove purchase records held by Google Play. Google controls its own service and SDK records under Google's Privacy Policy.

For deletion of support reports or other information held by Vertolini, email support@vertolini.com and identify VanBrowser and the information concerned. Do not send Google passwords, authorization tokens or website session cookies. Vertolini cannot inspect or remove your private Drive data without your authorization. Support record requests are handled separately from the self-service cloud deletion above.
